Hope Comes Home
2020 Canadian Catholic Youth Ministry Conference
THE CCYMN CONFERENCE
HOPE COMES HOME
The theme of this year’s conference is, “Hope Comes Home.” We hear in the words of the Instrumentum Laboris in preparation for the Synod on Youth, the Faith and Vocational Discernment, that “young people are called to become heralds of the resurrection” (IL, 76).
As we accompany young people along the road of faith, we have the blessed privilege to not only bring young men and women into the fullness of life and relationship with Jesus Christ, but infuse youthful energy, Spirit-led joy and vibrancy into our communities. When young people know they are welcome and experience the “mercy and tenderness from the Church,” hope really does come home.
Through our keynote addresses, our workshop topics as well as our prayerful collaboration with one another, we look forward to unpacking the fruits of the Synod and look forward to practical implementation of skill and knowledge into day-to-day ministerial life. As our Holy Father has said, “hope opens new horizons, making us capable of dreaming what is not even imaginable.” – Our Hope, Pope Francis
Bishop Thomas Dowd
Thomas Dowd was born in Montreal on Sept. 11, 1970, and ordained a priest on Dec. 7, 2001. Following his theological studies at the Grand Seminary of Montreal, he did pastoral work, from 2001 to 2005, in the Montreal parishes of Holy Name of Jesus, Saint Thomas à Becket, Saint Veronica and Saint Luke. From 2005 to 2006, he served as chaplain at Lakeshore General Hospital. From 2006 to 2011, he was associate director of the Office for Pastoral Personnel. In September 2010, he was named director of formation for the Archdiocese of Montreal.
On July 11, Pope Benedict XVI named Fr. Dowd as auxiliary bishop to assist our Archbishop Christian Lépine with the important task of proposing Jesus Christ in Montreal. His Episcopal ordination took place Sept. 10 at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral
His Excellency Bishop Dowd was one of four episcopal delegates elected by the CCCB to attend the Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on Young People, Faith and Vocational Discernment. During this time he was called upon to offer an intervention on the overall theme, which can be found here.

A Guy and A Girl
A Guy & A Girl are a Hamilton-based married duo composed of Jesse and Kathleen LeBlanc. The two met for the first time in 2013 in their university music building while studying in Langley, BC.
Since then, melodies from folk, pop, soul & Christian influences have inspired their music as they perform across the country.
As Catholics, A Guy & a Girl will often be found in churches, on retreats, or in living rooms leading people into worship of God through music. However, they also love the joy of entertaining; bringing smiles and goosebumps to their audiences in coffeeshops, pubs, and other social venues.
Their joyful chemistry both on and off stage is contagious, and will leave you with a smile on your face and a happy tune on your lips.
